a friend of mine asked me a very real question today. for years he’s battled with polio. he’s seen alot of heartache. and when he was 8 he was his best friend die in the bed beside him due to the same disease. after his friend died the family refused to talk to him for they reminded them of their son. his parents have dealt with alot over the years. the pain he felt. it was sad. you could see it all on his face.
his question was "how could God give him and his family so much pain?" he also said "how could God like plan it that way." after a bit of discussion someone said "God doesn’t plan on this kind of stuff. we have to understand that we live in a sinful world." another said "God doesn’t give you more than you can stand. and alot of people could never deal with having a sick child but God knew ur parents could handle it. God never gives you more than you can handle." and my friend was like "yeah man but it doesn’t stop the hurt. sure it can be a blessing in disguise and sure my parents handled it but it was messed up man."
how do you answer that? and furthermore what about the people in this world that commit suicide. obviously they were given more than they could handle so did God screw up there with them? we all know the verse
1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
i’m not one to push scriptures on anyone. and most people that know me well know its odd that i’m even quoting but yeah. tough questions from real people…
